2017 Book Fair and Dress Like a Book Character Day!

picture of book fair flyer detailsWe are partnering with the University Book Store for our book fair!  A percentage of the sales goes back to supporting the library to purchase new books for the collection.  Students will have an opportunity to browse the book fair during their library time or another scheduled time  (Fri classes) where they create wish lists to bring home and discuss with their families about purchasing any books.  The wish list also often becomes a list of books that they want to read next!

Here are the details about when/where purchases may be made:

Dress Like Book Character Day – Friday 3/3

THIS IS NOT HALLOWEEN, though of course the same Halloween/Harvest rules apply, nothing lewd or violent, no masks, and no weapons. It’s a great way for kids to get creative and spread the word about a favorite book. If a student dresses up they can enter a drawing to win a gift card to the book fair during lunch recess on Friday.  Some representative ideas we’ve seen:

Pink shirt + leggings, plastic spider pinned to shoulder= Wilbur from Charlotte’s Web
Fake glasses + notebook + solid hoodie= Harriet from Harriet the Spy
Dog ears + paper clock face pinned to shirt= Tock the Watchdog from the Phantom Tollbooth

I am so excited to see what the kids come up with. I always hear about a new book on these days, and it’s great to see how passionate some of the kids are. Of course, it’s completely optional.

We Need Book Fair Volunteers !
The University Bookstore staffs the cash registers, so all you have to do is the fun part.
This year we will need help –  setting up on Mon. 2/27 during the day, assisting students during buying times, and breaking down the book fair at the end of the night on Friday 3/3.
